What is ORP in a swimming pool?
ORP (oxidation-reduction potential) is a measurement in millivolts (mV) that shows how actively pool water is being sanitised. A higher ORP means the sanitiser is working harder against contaminants. Many pool professionals aim for roughly 650–750 mV.
What pH should pool water have?
Most swimming pools and hot tubs should be kept at a pH of about 7.2 to 7.6. In this range chlorine works well, the water feels comfortable on eyes and skin, and equipment is protected from both corrosion and scale.
Inline vs floating pool monitors: what is the difference?
A floating pool monitor sits in the water and has to be taken out, charged and cleaned. An inline monitor is installed permanently in the circulation pipework and measures the water as it flows past. The difference shows up in daily handling, power and how representative the readings are.
What is hydrodynamic cavitation?
Hydrodynamic cavitation is a physical process in flowing water. When water is forced through a narrow passage, its pressure drops and tiny vapour bubbles form. When the pressure recovers, the bubbles collapse, releasing small, intense bursts of energy into the water.
Smart monitoring for pool maintenance companies
Remote water monitoring lets a pool maintenance company see the pH, ORP and temperature of every customer pool on one screen. Instead of finding problems at the next scheduled visit, the team sees them as they develop – and plans visits around real data.
Smart water monitoring for hot tubs and swim spas
Hot tub and swim spa water changes much faster than pool water: the volume is small, the temperature is high and several people may use it at once. Continuous monitoring of pH, ORP and temperature shows changes within hours instead of at the next test.
